Andrew Fairfield-Smith
Story
STAR - ANDREW FAIRFIELD-SMITH
PARTNER – KIM NEVILLE
I have the most delightful family: Gidge, my beautiful bride, and three healthy, fit and intelligent children. I don’t buy lottery tickets because I have already won.
I grew up at Tom Groggin, attending Jindabyne Public School then Canberra Grammar School for my secondary school education. I went on to the AIS where I rowed for Australia. This took me all over the world, however my love for the mountains meant I was destined to move back to where I felt most comfortable, living and working in the area where I grew up: Jindabyne.
I build things - anything really. I like to work outdoors, even as though I seem to have to spend more and more time in the office. Due to the nature of our work I get to see and do a lot of fascinating things.
It may sound a little corny, but my passion in life is my family. I have a full schedule and really appreciate spending time with Gidge and the kids. Fortunately for me we all love the outdoors, skiing, fishing, camping, riding and generally getting dirty.
I’m good for a giggle and MCCR is a fantastic cause. I’m hoping my partner Kim is a magician as I can’t dance, I’m one of the most un-photogenic people I have ever met and I’m tone deaf. I guess I’ll learn a thing or two about myself if I’m to get up on stage and pull this dance off. Here we go.
KIM NEVILLE PROFILE
My name is Kim Neville, and I’m from Jindabyne. I used to own and operate Lifestyle Cafe and I now do catering, plus I manage a lodge in Thredbo. By far and away the best holiday I have had was in Africa. In that and in life, I’m supported by my husband Brendan and my daughter Alexandra.
I really love dancing and performing on stage, and hope to pass on some of this passion to Andrew, my partner. I participated in the last DWTCS and this is my small way of “giving back” to the community. I’ll learn to be adaptable and patient as Andrew and I put together something that is really entertaining for the audience.
Activity
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
