Ben Litchfield
Story
Hi obviously my name is Ben Litchfield, I was born and bred in Nimmitabel and have worked on the Monaro all my life, I was schooled locally at Nimmitabel then MHS and then off to boarding school for a few years, I live between Nimmitabel and Tura Beach with my wife Louise and my two daughters Annabelle and Jennifer.
I currently work for Monaro Wool Services which is a division of Schute Bell Badgery (AWPAL) a very well know Sydney based Company. I have worked in the Wool Industry since I was 17 and have always enjoyed the work/clients/colleagues/mentors and friends I have met and dealt with over the years whom are all very important to me, this has also supplied me with wonderful life opportunities.
My darling wife Louise and two beautiful daughters Annabelle and Jennifer are very special to me they have had a huge impact on my life and continue to motivate and inspire me everyday.
My work/family/parents and friends are also very special to me, I enjoy the footy (GO THE ROOSTERS!!!!!) and the Races very much, I also enjoy being heavily involved with the country shows across the Monaro and the South Coast. I have always enjoyed community involvement with shows and company involvement with community events. I saw the DWTS as a way to contribute to the community and make an effort to help a great cause.
No one is untouched by Cancer illness' through family/friends or colleagues, I personally have lost a very great friend/work colleague through a very aggressive cancer so making a effort to help is a way of being solid with people coping bravely with circumstances that require huge understanding and support.
The challenge for me doing this is learning to dance without standing on Shara's feet or throwing her on the floor and not being too nervous or apprehensive which people may find quite funny as I normally am not a nervous apprehensive person but am very much so out of my comfort zone, but am very willing to give it a go so LETS DANCE and RAISE SOME MONEY!!!!!
Activity
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
