STAR - LIZ TIMMINS
PARTNER – MARK NOLAN

How exciting has the support has been - with donations coming in from all over the place I am past the target I set of $10,000 in donations on this page - I was very disappointed in the thermometer graphic - I was hoping for it to bulge, explode or do something very dramatic when we exceeded the target. Thanks so much to all the donatees.

The other exciting news is that we are getting better,  I am just back from another practise which I nearly enjoyed ! Mark and I both seemed to remember what we were doing again and our timing works sometimes. Fran was there as well and she was more positive too. We used the real stage.

It will be interesting to see whether what we can do in practice one day will work next time and particularly whether it is possible to do it with other people watching in a rehearsal and particularly on the REAL performances.

At the draw for the order of performance we came near the end for Thursday night, near the middle for Friday and near the beginning for Saturday - so pretty safe.

LIZ TIMMINS PROFILE

I live 15k from Jindabyne and work for Boyce Chartered Accountants in Cooma as a superannuation advisor and on our farm.  I enjoy both jobs because they are so different!  I like working with people at Boyce and I also like working with the land and the animals at home.  In my free time I like to ski, ride my motorbike and read.

My family, that is my husband Marty (from Jindabyne Pharmacy) and the kids, Max, Charlie and Annie, are expecting to get a lot of entertainment from seeing me attempt to learn to dance; the only sort of dancing I have ever done is with wild abandon at parties, the faster and more head banging the better.  I’m expecting this dancing to be challenging especially remembering what to do and keeping in time with the music.

I accepted the invitation because I couldn’t think of a good reason not to – it’s a great cause and there are lots of people who work really hard to make it a success.  The community really got behind it last time and I hope they do again.  I think it will be good for me – way out of my comfort zone and lots of people involved I have never met – including my partner Mark Nolan.

MARK NOLAN PROFILE

I live at Waste Point in Kosciuszko National Park – it’s a collection of NPWS staff housing on the north eastern end of Lake Jindabyne on a peninsula between where the Snowy River and the Thredbo River enter the lake.  Good fishing at times, and nearly always a beautiful spot to sit by the lake for breakfast.

I work for National Parks & Wildlife as the Senior Environmental Health Officer responsible for public health matter such as food safety, pools & spas and investigating any environmental management issues that may occur from time to time.  It’s a very interesting job meeting lots of people and helping them to ensure the visitors have a safe and pleasant time in the park.

I’ve been seeing Kate in Cooma since January 2011.  Kate has given me a brilliant dimension to my life.  I’m sure her 2 daughters will also learn and benefit from DWTCS 2012.

I do like dancing, really, I do.  I love dancing to really cool music at a venue where the dance floor is good and provides heaps of space.

I strongly support initiatives to reduce or eliminate the impact of cancer and the distress it places upon those suffering the disease and those around them.  The event in 2010 was such a hit, and I’m honoured to take part in this enriching experience myself in 2012.  I wouldn’t miss it for the world!

Liz will be a great partner, and I’m confident our dancing routine will be creative and fun and I hope it will be engaging and enjoyable for the audience.

I’m up for it, the unplanned bits will be the best I’m sure, and we’ll learn heaps as we go along.

Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated

The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
