Story
STAR – CHRISTOS
PARTNER – SHANNON SCHOFIELD
Originally from Sydney, I have lived in Cooma for the past eight years.
My wife, Kate and I operate a cleaning business, which enables me to meet all the great people in our area. I share my life with Kate and together we enjoy tackling life’s challenges.
I like to stay fit and healthy. I love spending time with both our families here in Australia and I’m especially looking forward to Kate meeting my family overseas sometime soon.
Travelling through Europe in my 20sI had a great time, however I’d have to say my honeymoon on Hamilton Island was the most cherished.
I’ve had family members and friends affected by cancer so giving my time to this event was never an issue if it means raising awareness and enabling a better quality of life for those in our community who suffer from cancer. I think I will find keeping up with my fantastic young dance partner Shannon the biggest challenge, however over the 12 weeks I’m hoping we get it all together and give you something you will enjoy.
SHANNON SCHOFIELD PROFILE
I’m 18 years old and recently completed my HSC at Monaro High School. I’ve lived in Cooma my whole life. Currently I’m an administration trainee at Snowy Hydro, which is going really well. I plan to move to Wollongong next year to study environmental science. I am also a dance teacher at Cooma Dance Company, where I teach Zumba fitness and hip hop.
Dancing, my friends and family are the most important things in my life, and I also love photography and being outdoors.
I accepted the invitation to dance in this event because I got so much out of it the first time. Lots of hard work, many laughs and all for a good cause. I’ll definitely learn a whole lot about working within this extraordinary team along the way, while raising money and having great fun.
Activity
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
